240 with the SR20DET swap...Love those. If they had convertible that'd be my 2nd car. Actually since you were talking about it earlyier if they had the G35 in convertible i probably would have sold my forenza long ago to get oneErfinder@PrecisionBoost wrote:Hmmm.... what would I buy if I didn't have a half dozen cars allready?
Well.... I really like the mid nineties 240SX.... rear wheel drive and the SR20DET swap is easy as pie.
You could easily do a nice Silvia for under $15,000.
Hmmm.... what else.... well.... for $15,000 you could have a highly modified Opel Calibra running AWD with 300+ horsepower.
I don't know about the USA but I can bring in any car that's over 15 years in age..... and the early nineties 2.0L Turbo AWD 6spd Opel Calibra is now available.
I am really tempted to pick up one of these bad boys and have it shipped here.
Tom wants one in right hand drive..... but I don't think I'd be comfortable sitting on the other side of the car.... I'd probably import mine from Germany or one of the other European countries that have left hand drive vehicles.
Hmmm..... what else can I think of...... well.... there is also the Nissan Pulsar NX which can be converted into an SR20DET powered Nissan Sunny GTiR

The KA24DE wasn't a bad engine.... it's mostly image related due to the fact that they used it in the pickup trucks.
Tuning of the KA24DE has come a long way.... now there are turbo kits and other aftermarket support.
The SR20DET swap is fairly cheap from the research I've done..... so even if you wanted a stock SR20DET it would be a decent upgrade.
Anyways..... enough about the nissan..... hmmm how about an RX8?
Or if you want something unique..... Renault R5 ?

Just want something fast, fairly inexpensive, and no headaches.
Something with 4 doors and a turbo... some space inside the car.

I have a question for you.....
Would you be interested in a turbo Nubira with serious upgrades?
What was your price range again?
$2295 gets you a 1999 Nubira hatchback ( I personally like the 1999 hatchback the most but it would be your choice )
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?c ... ardist=985
If your price range is $10k this leaves around $8000 for modifications.
Here is a guess at the stuff that could be installed....
Turbo 2.0L running 250hp
-- upgraded electronics (piggyback computer for fuel/ignition maps )
-- upgraded radiator
-- intercooler
-- T3/T04E turbo
-- upgraded internals (pistons, rods, studs)
-- upgraded injectors
-- adjustable camshaft pullies
-- underdrive pulley
Performance Seats
Body Kit & new paint
projector headlights
Lightweight rims and perforance tires
Lowering springs with sport struts
pillowball mounts
stainless exhaust & Muffler
performance fuel pump
urethane bushing kit for suspension
upgraded brake system ( larger disks and calipers )
clutch and limited slip differencial
varous add ons and perhaps a sound system
Would this be something that would interest you???????
You would purchase the car, drive it up here, stay for roughly a week and drive your highly modified Nubira back to your home.
Ideally if you took 2 weeks off this would give you plenty of time to get up here, get everything installed and drive back.
All the parts would be ready to go in.... a different 2.0L from a Nubira would be prepared ahead of time.... so it would be a simple matter of ripping out the old 2.0L and installing the new one.
The engine, suspension, interior installs would only take 2 or 3 days but the fitment of the body kit and a paint job would probably take 5 days.
Don't quote me on time or cost..... I would have to investigate further.... I just thought I'd throw it out there.

An M3 is cool.... I really only like the 2002 - 2005 models
There is even a cooler BMW out there.... I'm trying to remember... oh ya.... the mid nineties M8
Here is a link... http://www.bmw-power.8m.com/1994_bmw_m8.htm
They are fairly rare but you might find one if you look hard enough
Hmmm.... I guess it's the same chassis as the 1991 850i
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?r ... rdist=1728
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?c ... t=8#vdptop
Hmmm.... you said something about gas mileage.... so a 5.0L V12 is probably out
Seriously..... an M3 would get horrible gas mileage as well.

It says that the older M3's only had 240hp
I don't know if that is right but that's only 200hp to 210hp at the wheels.
So.... a highly modified turbo nubira would absolutely kill an M3.... sure the M3 get's attension and looks good but I guess it depends on what your looking for in a vehicle.
As an odd question..... what if I took your car in on trade and financed this turbo nubira?
Would this interest you?
I don't know if I would finance you directly... there are ways to set up a loan through a bank in the USA.
Hell.... I could probably offer up some kind of warranty.
This is of course speculation..... it's something I've been thinking about.
The biggest problem is if I buy the car in the USA, bring it to canada, modify it, bring it back over the border and resell it there are a pile of customs and duty that would have to be paid out.
The easiest thing would be to set up a shop in the USA.... say Montana... and modify them there and sell them.
If it weren't for the fact that I want to modify my own car myself I would have had a turbo Optra with a widebody kit last year.
I suppose it has to do with learning the car and engine through hands on experience.

right now in this town would be a perfect time to set up a performance shop.. there isnt one for 200+ miles so having one right in the middle of montana would be the best time and place for it.. i have thought about it many times but i would still have to go to school to learn everything then get certified or what ever it takes and i dont have the money for it right now
damn good thought though

The newer M3s are very very nice but those older ones arnt great.. low on hp.. not very fast. I dont think they look even half as nice as the newer ones. I say if you wanna look at BMWs look at a 330... my mom has a newer 330ci and its 0-60 is bout 6 seconds. Plus i heard the 330s and 325 ride better and have nicer interior than the M3s
