After market shock absorbers
i was thinking of the time when i need new shock absorbers, what should i get? what brand to go for?
i am currently set on the OEM shocks but i don't know if their is something better out their... what about Monroe? is it any good? any other reputable brands?
i am not looking for a sporty suspension 'cause i am not going racing... i am seeking better performance than OEM.

My KYB suspension is great. The struts are as stiff as could be but the shocks could be a little stiffer. Definately recommend the struts.

KYB GR2s are excellent. Thats what I have. I couldn't get gas-a-just rears (discontinued) so I just got GR2s for the rear too. You cant go wrong with the GR2s in front for sure. I have been lowered 1.5 inches for about 5 months and I have not bottomed the front end even once. With stock struts and springs i used to bottom out the front ever once in a while.

KYB GR-2 are quasi-performance line of shocks...think of them as half-way between general OEM replacement (like KYB Gas-A-Just, or Monroe Sensatrac), and high performance adjustable setup. Besides, GR-2's come with lifetime warranty (at least in Canada).
My experience with GR-2 is really good - I very much recommend them.

i went to the spare parts shop i deal with and he said he got KYB rear shocks for the lanos but they are not the GR-2 model.
i recont it will still be a better product to use than the OEM specially that the KYB's costs only 10% more... do you agree on that?

i found today some monroe rear shock absorbers but the guy recommended against them... he said they were too stiff and will make the ride jerky, also they cost almost twice as the KYBs.

they turned out to be insanly expensive compared to Monroe and KYB... throwing in 4 Koni springs will cost 1600 LE more (280.70 USD) so thats too much to spend on the car.

the product is great no doubt but the price is too much... if you are getting a full shocks/springs kit (no installation) it will cost about as much a the 2.0 engine swap we just did.

was doing 160 km/h on Friday on a bit bumpy road and the car felt like it was in an arcade game... she wants to got each and every way but straigt, i asked one of my friends to drive next to me and look at the front tires... he said they are constantly flying off the road.
i went to replace the 4 shocks i have immediatly as i don't want to end up in another accedent... maybe this is why i had my first accedent in the first place... who knows.
anyways i got 4 KYB premium shock absorbers and a set of control arm ball joints ( i already replaced my tie rods 2 months ago) and got the whole suspension living again.
the old shock absorbers got very mild resistance... they were worn as hell, now the car feels stiffer and more reliable on high speeds... no more wobbling on bends and no more "flying carpet" experiances on straights.
the shocks costed 475 LE (83.33 USD) and the ball joints were 65 LE (11.40 USD) total labour was 100 LE (17.55 USD)... was it worth the money spent?? yes indeed, nothing is as good as driving a stable and safe car.
