CAI for '01 Leganza

Post by FearTheWoo »

Just picked up an '01 Leggy CDX about a month ago, had it debadged, now looking to do a bit of work under the hood (the ultimate sleeper, just want to get a little more power out of it).

Step 1 is a CAI, was wondering if you guys knew of any reasonably priced kits for a Daewoo (haven't found any for the Leganza) that would work.

Down the line I'm looking to do my exhaust, but the CAI is something I'd like to do during the holidays. Also keep in mind I'm a college student on a budget.

you can go one of two ways with the CAI.
1. Weapon R makes one
2. 360dynamics is making one as we speak.

Its a shame those are the only two options.

Weapon R has a series of short-ram intakes, any way those can be modified to a CAI (the pre-fab box they sell isnt made for Daewoo)?

Any update on 360dynamics' CAIs? Or are they still in the works?

they are still in the works but shouldn't be much longer. if anything it'll give ya the chance to save some money so you can get that without having to be strapped for cash. yeah i forgot that weapon r only had the short ram but you could always get it and then fab your own CAI.

Has anyone done this recently (modding a CAI from a short-ram)? Anyone have any pics to give me an idea of what I'd be in for or what to look out for?

Since it seems like theres gonna be some extra work to be done anyways, are there any other brands that you guys have experience with adapting to a Daewoo?

Decided to have my CAI custom formed from a 3' length of steel pipe (2.5" ID), bent at a local muffler shop (thanks for the idea ricemill).

Ended up being hella cheap, and I'm really pleased with the end result. It is noticably more responsive in the lower rpms, not to mention sounds amazing (especially the throttle from 1k-3k rpm).

Clamped it onto my existing hose with the sensors, so no extra drilling was required, then suspended the intake in a set of homemade rubber gaskets.

Just wanted to thank you guys for the input -- saved me a ton of money (cost me about $50 for the entire project) and really happy with the end result.
