Clutch dilemma/solved
Rigt now my car is getting a turbo upgrade and while it s standing in the garage I want to change my clutch as I am sure that the OEM one will not last long...
Do you know if a clutch from Astra GSi will fit ??? I mean an OEM clutch from Sachs for example but dedicated to Astra GSi. Astra has 190 Nm stock so if I will have smth like 220 Nm of torque from tubo the clutch schould be just fine.

first of all the outside diameter of the Nubira D20 Clutch is 10 mm wider than your D16s clutch thanks to a bigger flywheel... i really dont know if you can use it... (i must say no) but if you can youll have to change also your friction plate and flywheel....
but like john s says... its better that you get a custom made one... and it would not kill your transmision faster... i dont know why youre so afraid...
again i have a custom "stage 4" bronce clutch with out springs... and yes its a bit not to good to drive in traffic jams... but you get used to it... but thats the price you pay for more power... it grips 3 times better than any standart clutch... i have like one year with it... the only change was my friction plate thanks to this clutch... but my manual tranny has 3 years... my car used to be a 1.5 auto
with your turbo set up youll burn your standart clutch looking for better launches at the lights/track (you know... the smell of a burned clutch)... with a custom clutch you can "play" and this will not happen and you will get a faster response of the car... its worth it...

Hmm...what I have noticed when I had the 1.6l and 2.0l Lemans' engines apart, is that they share the same flywheel (at least it appeared so). While the 1.6l did have a smaller clutch, there was plently of unused space on the outer diameter. I then 'test fitted' 2.0 larger clutch and pressure plate onto the 1.6 flywheel, and everything lined up perfectly. I can therefore assume you can use 2.0l clutch/pressure plate on the 1.6 flywheel.
What I would do, is that I would have order 1.6l pressure plate/clutch as well as 2.0l pressure plate/clutch. I would then compare the inside spline, as well as bolt pattern on the pressure plate. Altough I am 99% confident this IS going to work, there might be a small changes in design between north american and euro-specs models.
Good luck!
