Australian/Euro Lanos instrument cluster w/tach availabilty?
Hey guys, I remember that for a long time I (and others) were looking for a Lanos instrument panel that included the tach. Always hated giant tachs on the dash myself. I remember it was impossible to find a source to import one from. Been to EBAY a lot recently and not found anything. Is it still the same - NO ONE from Europe/Australia will bother to source these to the US?

WOW! Things HAVE changed since I have been gone. I assume the speedo is in MPH in addition to KPH. Its been awhite, but IIRC, hooking up a tach is relatively easy. In the good old days of pre-2002, if you were interested in a Lanos in the US and wanted anything for it...well, you were just SOL. What is the going rate on a cluster?
Now, I wonder if HVE/DVE in Australia still sells the Silhouette kit.

There is a model in Canada that has it????? Really?????
I have a 2001 Lanos S manual but no tach.... which model did it come in??? Was it in the SX hatch,S Sedan or SX Sedan???
I know the factory harness has the tach wires included in the instrument cluster connector (which is where I hooked my external tach to)
My instrument cluster allows you to take the individual parts out so I would imagine you can simply remove the "km/h speedo/odometer" and slap in your "MPH speedo/odometer"
(Don't take my word on this.....it's been almost a year since I had the instrument cluster apart)
Can anyone else confirm the separate speedo/odometer swap????

i believe it might have been all the SX models that had the indash tach. i have a 2000 SX hatch... its got the tach. and you probably could just swap spedos if you wanted to i think. you could take out each part out like Erfinder said. did it the last time i took out my cluster. i checked some local yards for clusters for ppl who wanted but most of the models i saw banged up were S. i'll keep looking though

Sure, I have all the wiring diagrams.... the best place for you to pull off the tach signal would be under the glove box... the wires are open and easy to see.MR187 wrote:Anyone got a wiring guide for the loom going to the cluster?
There have allready been a number of discusions on wiring the Tach including which pin on the ECU, which color wire and locations to pull off the signal throughout the car.
If I were you I'd do some searching on previous posts, if you want some diagrams just PM me with your email address and I'll send them off to you.
Just keeping this up so people who come across a dash cluster can post.
And while I am here, what about a front tower bar? Never seen one yet and I know my Skyline rode a lot different once I put the bar on it. What about a rear bar? All this all Australia sourced to this day or is Canada getting better at sourcing?

Anone notice something special about the instrument cluster?
Pretty clean IMO. A small rear wing (small one mind you, not a giant ricer picnic table) would look good to finish it off.
