Just need to know quik histoiry about

Post by Goldenboy »

Yes I think Erfinder will be able to help me with that.

What was the origine 1.5L in lanos and there maker. Same question for the Sunbird 2.0L turbo. I think they where both Holden but I might be wrong. I was debating with one of my mecanics friend. I was kind of lost I think talking about mitsubishi being involved in the 2L turbo.

Thanks

All engines were designed by Holden/Opel/Vauxhall (GM companies)

Holden is the branch of GM that now runs GMDAT.

From what I gather they all started from the Holden Engine plant in Australia but I belive that there are numerous plants producing parts and assembling the engines throughout the world (Australia, Poland, Korea, Brazil ...... ????)

1.5L SOHC --> A15SMS (Canada)
1.5L DOHC --> A15DMS (Korea)
1.6L DOHC --> A16DMS (Canada & USA)
2.0L DOHC --> C20SED (regular emissions)
2.0L DOHC --> T20SED (TLEV emissions)
2.2L DOHC --> T22SED (TLEV emissions)
2.2L DOHC --> C22SED (regular emissions)
2.0L SOHC --> C20LZ ( TBI LeMans/Optima engine)
2.0L SOHC --> C20NE (MPFI Daewoo Racer??)
2.0L SOHC Turbo --> C20GET (MPFI Sunbird/Grand Am)
2.0L DOHC Turbo --> C20LET ( MPFI Kadette/Astra)

The list goes on and on..... C20XE, C20XEV, C20SEL, X20XEV, X20SE, Z20LET, X16XEL, C16XE, C16NZ, X16SZ, X16SZR..... I'm sure there are more but this is all I have written down

Yes MAniac, it coulb be good to have a reference section with thtis kind of info. It could be usefull to have compatible parts on this section to.

Are the engines in the Suzuki Forenza and Reno (Chevrolet Optra and Optra5 in Canada) the same as the Nubira? New engine code? And what's Suzuki calling it? Thanks if anyone knows.

Also it looks like the engine choices in the Lacetti and Lacetti 5 (Korean market) do not include the 2.0 liter versions we are getting in the U.S. Please correct me if this is wrong.

I don't know what Suzuki and GM will be calling them but they typically use internal RPO numbers..... for example the C20GET (2.0L 8V Turbo) goes by the GM RPO number LT3

The C20GET is actually stamped into the block but you won't find the LT3 number anywhere except for in GM books.

I belive that the Optra uses the same 2.0L 16V T20SED.... I took a pretty good look at it when I went to the car show a few weeks back.

The AVEO uses the A16DMS but it has the mount like the Nubira where it's set between the timing belt.

My thinking about this mount is that it helps to stabilize the engine better.

In the Sunbird there were two primary engine mounts... one in front like the Lanos's engine and one in the back.

I have a feeling that I'm going to have to make a special dampener setup when I drop the 2.0L turbo into the Lanos (since it only has the front mount)

I'm not too sure about the Lacetti, if it's in the Korean market it probably comes with a much smaller engine ( 1.6 DOHC, 1.5 SOHC, 1.5 DOHC )
