yeah the cool thing about this is that its fine tuneable and with b&m its 1 2 or off also b&m is a two wire connection the autotrans is a 15 wire connection (or 16 cant remember) and does more then add pressure to the lines

doesnt fit

Post by damian007vk »

I bought this autotrans interceptor for like 95 buck brand new about 10 months ago but chris P, and a few other members at the time told me that it wouldnt work....that the plug one our cars does not plug into the autotrans interceptor. That yes we have the 4t40E but that this plug fits only the harness from the oldmobile alero, pontiac sunbird, and the CHEVY Cavalier. So i just sold it on ebay....the B&M one is suppose to not work either unless u modify it. Let me know if u guys have another outcome.

well

there is some truth in there somewhere, yes the plugs are different, how? well the plug for the other 4t40e tranys plug right into the front of the trany, on the woo, it has the same plug, in a different location.

the front of our tranys has this weird insert type deal that doesnt look like it comes out at all then up the line about 12 inches there is the plug, that is the plug your looking for, as for how good the autotrans works, i dont know but people on the cavalier forum say it kicks ass, so maybe it does?

i for one have the B&M shiftplus and to tell you the truth, i dont like it as much as i thought i would

on setting 1 the trany actaully shifts really nice and there is very very little slipage if any, it doesnt jerk the car causing you to snap your neck
could be just a tad bit harder though

setting 2 you hit the gas and at about 5k rpm when it shifts the car will jerk really hard then be in the next gear, i played around with it for a bit and i dont see how this could do the trany any good, im sure if i was on the gas hard enough i can get the tires break lose

why i dont like it?

well when in park and put in setting 1 and put in gear everything is fine, shifts from gear to gear (at stop) with out slamming things around
in setting 2 at a stop you put int in drive or gear and it will make a cruch sound and jerk the car a bit (doesnt seem good to me)

also the sound of what ever is being turned up doesnt sound good at all
it gets a really high whine to it and scares the crap out of me. on setting 1 its not notivable but in setting 2 at a stop it makes you think...

other than that i dont notice anything but upshifting being more firm or hard from the b&m shiftplus and only coming with 2 settings limites you to how you want to set it up but for the price and the remote access i would say its a great mod

as for the the autotrans, i might purchase this and see how well this works compared to the B&M. from what i have read about other people using it have been most happy with it

not only does it shift firmer in upshift but it firms up the down shift also, reducing the gap inbetween, people have said that it also helps with the take off because it allows a slight delay of engaging the torque converter alowing higher rpms to be reached before take off, and the other good thing about this is you can tune it ot your needs or wants

i dont know whats better and i dont know how well the autotrans will work until i purchase it and try it my self

but until then hopefully this has helped

Post by damian007vk »

alright cool.....hopefully it fits dude.....Try ebay....I found mine for about 90 bucks including shipping and sold it for about that much....however again, I never attempted to install it after told it wouldnt work cause of the difference in harnesses. I am anxious to see if the autotrans does indeed actually work so keep me posted dude.....after your review I will either go with the B&M or the autotrans interceptor again. I really want to do something to upgrade the performance of my tranny......so let us know wooooohoooo
