Ok I was wondering wether you guys could help me with this
I have A Daewoo Lanos se 2001
I Got a tacho off the net and tried to install it but I am a bit new to this. So I got A auto electrics place to do it and they ran all the cables and stuff from the ecu to the dash connected the tacho and nothing happened.
They said everything is wired ok and tested, but i need a tacho that goes off the change in voltage not a point system.
So I was wondering what tacho you guys used. Like brand and model. or is thier anything else i need to do.
I've been jonesing for a tach since I bought my Woo... so I can completely understand your frustraition in being so close to a working tach and it isn't working. I wish I could help.
There is a wire behind the dash (in one of the wiring looms for the cluster). Its a grey/white one. It is the correct signal for the tacho! Even if your cluster doesn;t have a tacho it is there!!
It is a part of one of the gauge cluster connections. What he is saying is that one of the wires that goes into the back of your gauge cluster is transmitting the proper data for the tach, just that there is currently no tach to recieve the info.
Yes JonnyC is correct. The wire is there but it just has no use when u are using a standard cluster. If you cut the cable and lengthen it, you should be able to route it to your new external tacho.
That's how I wired up my tach way back when I still had my 1.5L SOHC Lanos...... I even took pictures of the wire and posted it..... but I'm not sure if it's on this forum.

I went to the old Daewoo dealer here for diagnosis, but my ECU didnt have a wire connected to the pin on the socket that apparently runs to the gauge cluster...
