Stiffining Lanos engine mounts
hi guys... i thing i have distroyed my 4 months old engine mounts again (or at least one of them) so i am going to buy a new set but i won't put them on till i stiffen them a little bit to handle the strain.
now i have some quetions about this project:
1- can one use any silicon product to fill the mount? i mean my options are not just black glass silicon... right?
2- does the fillup should be 100% silicon? some people said they used urethane or so.
3- what other material can i use to fill other than urethane? can i use wood and seal it with silicon for more stiff support?
4- how long should i leave the silicon to dry out? some people say up to one day... is that correct?
also any other tips or advice is always welcomed... as always when the priject starts pics will be uploaded ASAP.
thanks for the advice.

one q?
my engine mount near the timing belt is a hidromount and it is broken
instead of the fluyd it has inside i can fill it with urethane and make it solid right ?
is better than spending $40 in a new one to break it again

As far as I know it isn't the color of the silicone that changes it's properties. I know there is high temp silicone and low temp silicone. Beyond that I just don't know.MMamdouh wrote:i'm going to use silicon... is their a difference between black window silicon and transparent silicon in terms of durability and all??

(high temp will handle temps up to about 500 degrees farenheight, low temp will melt at about 250ish)
i guess even if i got the 250f silicon i am still OK... are their any difference in how stiff both types are or are they the same??JohnnyC wrote:As far as I know it isn't the color of the silicone that changes it's properties.
