valve cover!!

Post by blueoptra »

My 2004 chev optra was seaping oil all over the place.
So today I changet the oil to a 10/30 synthetic instead
of 5/30 synthetic and I thought to check the valve cover bolts!
And a few of them were finget tight is this suposed to
hapen the car is only 2 years old! should I change the gaskets?
is this common?

if the gasket is leaking then you have to replace it.

oh... then clean every thing up first then retighten the cover and watch for oil leaks... if the cover is not tight it will leak.

why it was not tight?? got no idea but you know shit happens... a friend with a 3 month old 2006 Lanos got a lose engine mount so it seems the guys in the assembly factory are driniking while working or something

that's strange it never happened to me before, maybe when you changed your oil you put to much, check your oil dipstick.

if it shows more then full you'll have to put a clean cloth (only the tip) in there to absorb the oil, then check the dip stick again.

also check if your oil pan drips oil, that happened to me before at the dealer they added to much oil.

just a though. :)

and for the stain of oil on your drive way use Gunk foam degreaser works wonders. (that's what I use to clean my engine).
