a grand discovery

Post by woo »

in my daily pottering around the house (I have no job due to medical reasons, fun when youre only 19) i decided to look into the soft, airy fairy feel of the acelerator pedal in my 2L leganza. As it turnes out WOT would only open the TB i bit past half way. After adjusting the cable i got a much stiffer pedal and the car was mush more responsive, but i do not know if it is any quicker. I also adjusted the kick down cable to shift as early as possible and to hold gears longer before dropping down. That was mainly because i tend to cruise around, and less shifting makes a smoother ride, plus if i want to race, i just use the shifter (bad i know but who cares)

Nothing "bad" about that. Also, good catch on the throttle opening!

it just adjusts when it shifts in relation to throttle position. My car used to shift from 1st to 2nd at 2500 if only slightly on the accelerator, but if i was floored, it would rev out to 6k. Now it will shift at 2500 when im at about 1/3 throttle and only rev out to 4k at WOT. I was just sick of the car kicking down gears when it didnt need to, because it has enough power to get up hills in 3rd, so why should it be revving harder in 2nd if it doesnt have to?

the higher revs = more torque, going uphill you want more revs

cables tend to do that over time, i notice an improvment in my camry, my sister couldnt belive the diffrence in her sentra, and 2 of my friends snaped their ac belts in their woo's because the engines never been to WOT since they got them (used)
