our stock injector could stop working @ over 80psi of fuel pressure.Nubira2.2 wrote:@ which PSI stock injectors stop working ?
our injector is the ball and socket style. a ball lifts of a seat due to an electromagnetic action.
if pressure is too high, the force of the electromagnet cant lift the ball off the seat. hence, a closed injector.
but the problem at hand could be map related.
got drift?
back to stock
hello all
now after i found out that the seals of my Turbo are the main problem for the smoke i have i removed the turbo setup and the car is back to stock 2.0 L
the good thing in this was the rollback time was 2 hours and this is perfect and the car was back to normal but it feels like shit so i went down with my daewoo mate MMamdouh and we got a new TURBO and this time will make an amazing job coz now we have the know how and we did some major things in the old project so will try to avoid all the bad things and we'll give you a step by step progress pics and writeups so i hope things are good and final this time

i missed most of the first project and i won't let that happen once more... if someone tried anything remotly related to initiating the turbo installation process with me not arround, i am going to rip his head off
glad that the Woo will see boost once more.

Aquired new turbo
Hi guys
you all know we suffered a seal problem with the turbo and the car was smoaking as hell, we had no choice but to remove the turbo and go back to N/A setup.
now we have aquired another T3/T4 turbo to replace the busted one and here are some pics:
core of old turbo:
intake turbine of old turbo:
exhaust turbine of old turbo:
detected crack at the westgate port:
fully dissasembled turbo:
new T3/T4 with built in wastgate:
intake side:
exhaust side:
adaptor flange... no need for turbo mani:
BMW intercooler:
got to do something to them ports to avoid the exceeded protrusion of the IC out of the bumper:
will keep you all posted with the progress.

Intercooler
Guys that intercooler looks like it has plastic tanks on it ends !
They can come off with a bit of use from a flat screwdriver.
My intercooler came of a 200 ts opel Astra, and had end siimilar to yours. I took off the std tanks, bought some alloy sheet and 2 alloy stubs and took it to a local welder and welded it up like a conventional straight in straight out intercooler and it slotted behind my bumper (with a bit of grinding out the rear of the plastic).

Re: Intercooler
thats what we intend to do... the fabrication bit is the only obsticle as we want to do this "cleanly" and that is hard here given the skills of the welders arround here so it is going to take some effort seaching for a good one to do the job.wolfhound wrote:Guys that intercooler looks like it has plastic tanks on it ends !

well we learned alot from the old stup and now we are planning to overcome all the obsticles we came across so we are not going to rush into it on the expence of reliability and all.ubuyau wrote:Adaptor plates for the win!

hey Tim... are you using anything for fuel managment other than rrfpr and 2.0 injectors?

I wasn't, just the rrfpr + 2L injectors. No pinging and no lean spots (so that was good). When it came on boost though it went quite rich...MMamdouh wrote:

I was only using one step colder plugs too - nothing for adjust the timing...
Im VERY confident there is quite a bit more power to be extracted from having control over fuel and ignition with piggyback/standalone ECU...... But i'll let you guys know once the project progresses...
--Tim
we already got rrfpr and i guess now we got to get higher flow injectors just to keep it on the safe side under boost conditions.
