TD04L Turbo

Post by chris2511 »

Hi guys just wondering of anyone knows what psi the TD04L Turbo can go up to, people have said it can go over 10psi, im hoping for 15-20, but i have been told its smaller than the TD04 Turbo. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Depends on the specs (like a/r ratio, etc) of the turbo.

From what i remember the TD04L from the late-ish model wrxs is generally a bit smaller than earlier TD04 from Mitsu's and earlier WRXs.

People reliably run 18psi+ from the TD04L on WRX. That said, it does start to get outside it efficiency range above 16psi...

So would the TD04 run more boost then?

With a boost controller you can run whatever boost you like...

I think the question here is - Would a typical earlier bigger TD04 flow more air than a TD04L? Yes.

Try to get your hands on a copy of a book titled "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. He gives a good "no-nonesense, this is what you need to know" intro into turbo-ing your car.
