I haven t been on the boards in awhile because of moving out of my house i still own my 02 lanos hatch and am considering swaping in a 2.2 or is there a way to put in a 2.2t or a 2.0t and how much would i have to mess with it to fit.

Also what are some of the prices for the wiring harnesses or are they the same as my 1.6 dohc and what would be the price for the whole motor i also want to know if n e one is selling one used or blown i would rebuild it

the 2.0 did fit into a lanos so the 2.2 will fit.

T20SED gave 197HP @ 9 PSI

we used the oem wiring harness from the 1.6 DOHC on the 2.0 DOHC... i think the wiring won't be a problem for you... you might end up with an extra solinoid that got no place to hook to, that will be the VGIS solinoid.

search your local junkyard or on ebay.

just remeber that you need to mod the engine bay to accomodate the different front engine mount on the 2.2.

the engine mount on the 2.0 and 2.2 is under the two cam gears rather than over the A/C compressor as in the 1.6 so you will have to make a base for the new mount where the OEM air box is currently located... i will try to dig up some pics for Jasons 2.0 lanos and i think Efrain did that mod - the engine mount - as well.

as far as i know the harness will be the same... you will end up with an extra socket for the VGIS solinoid that doesn't exist on the 2.2 so just ignore this extra socket.

also notew the type of the EGR valve on the old and new engine... the pneumatic valve got a solinoid similat to the one for the VGIS one but the electric EGR got a 3 or 4 pin socket... if the EGR on both your 1.6 and 2.2 are different then this will be a problem on the wiring harness.

the MAP sensor on the 2.2 uses a different socket shape than the one for the 1.6... you will stumble on that too so i recommend that yuo get the harness with the 2.2 engine just to avoid any unpleasant surprizes.

you gotta make a new mount base for the 2.0/2.2 engine... that will involve welding on the car's body so it depends on how good and professional you are with welding.

the harness for the 2.2 is the same for 2.0 so every thing that applies to one engine applies to the other one.
