New exhaust! (pics)

Post by Dillon »

Ok so im going to custom make an exhaust system, But for some reason i cant find exhaust tubing sizing for a nubira. i searched through the fourms and all i could find was lanos specifications. SOOOO i have a few questions.

1. What size exhaust tubing should i use for the best result in hp?

2. where can i get the tubing?

3. Any tips or sugestion on things that would help me out while im doing this project?

Thanks alot guys and P.S. im going for a look like this

I used to work in an exhuast doing suspension and exhuast systems. If ur car is 2.0 biggest you should go is 2" any more and you loose power and back pressure. There is a fine line between exhuast pipe size and power increase. To big loose pressure. Not big enough and u wont even notice the difference.
If it is a 1.6 litre then 1 3/4" is quite addaquate.

MM I put on a 2" cat back I bought off ebay, it came with a glass packed muffler. I didnt notice any power loss, or any great increase but I do get better fuel economy now. Depending on what you want to do, I would steer away from a cannon style muffler, I had one on before and at certain rev ranges, it was quite noisy. The increase in pipe diameter will also give you increased "drone" type noise.

Someone out there is bound to disagree, but these are my experiences and like you, my woo is a 1.5 SOHC.

Ummm 1 3/4 is smaller than what the factory puts on the Aveo. The Aveo came with 2" up front then reduces to 1 7/8. Might want to think about that 1 3/4 again. ;)

Well if the Aveo 1.6 which is the same as the lanos uses a 2"-1 7/8 exhaust I think using a 2 1/4 exhaust would be good for a 2L
