Oil Light???

Post by va3dwo »

Well got the Daewoo out of storage from a long winter's nap and well not 2 days on the road when the oil light came on????
I changed the oil and filter, reset the ECU and all was ok, then 2 days later the oil light came on again. The engine is purring like a kitten, no clacking, valves are quiet....with the engine running I peak under the filler cap and oil is getting to the top? So you Daewoo pros out there please point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

might be a dumb question but did you check the oil level? if its ok then chances are your oil pressure sensor is going bad, or maybe your oil pump.

Oil grade and level checked.
I would first check if relief valve is not stuck open (37 to 40).
If no change then pressure switch 41. About 10 CAD.

Thanks for the replies, sorry I have been swamped @ work and have had to put the woo on the backburner.
So next question is... do I need to drop the exhaust to remove the oil pan? I took a quick gander under there and looks like I might.
Thanks again for your help.

If you plan on doing the work yourself ? A Daewoo Lanos factory service manual is invaluable.
I got mine on e-bay. Under $50.00 usd.

Oil Light???

Post by va3dwo »

So I removed the oil filter, pulled the plug and let all the oil drain out of the engine over night. Dropped the exhaust up to the flex hose, removed the flywheel cover plate, then removed the oil pan...then let it drain out some more. I then removed the A/C compressor to get to the relief valve, removed it (15/16" head if anyone needs that info) and oil drained out from there...does that mean it was stuck? All the components in the relief valve are super clean, the washer, tension spring and the other piece with the holes in it (pics included). I pulled a contorsionist act and was able to get my head up under and have a look down the relief valve...don't know what I am looking for.
I am going to pickup a new oil pressure switch tomorrow anyways and change it even if what I have is good, just to make sure.
Thats where I am now, any more input would be greatly appreciated.
Now that the nice weather is here, real anxious to get the woo back on the road.
