NGK is expensive?? i get a set for my lanos for 6.95USD so unless you get the Denso for free the NGKs are anything but expensive.

NGK is very good for the woo, and they arent that expencive. also if you want good wires, go to murrays auto parts, and get the Accell wire kit # 4040. its a DIY wire kit for a V8 but if you use your OEM coil side boots and bend the contacts on the coil side of the wire you can get 2 sets of 8mm wires for $45. thats what i did, they work great!

I'm thinking about changing my Denso's to NGK as I know NGK's are the best !
My local AutoZone parts store only has Denso's and don't have cross reference for NGK.
So, I bought them but would much rather have NGK's.

Anyone have the NGK spark plug part number ? For a factory stock 2001 Lanos 1.6 DOHC ?

Thanks in advance !

What brand and part number spark-plugs do you have in your engine now ?

I think you mean; "How do you remove the plugs ?"

With a 3/8 drive rachet and a 'deep-socket' and a 4 to 6 inch extension on it.

Go to a auto parts store and buy one for spark-plugs be sure to get one that it has rubber insulation inside it so the plug wont be damaged.
I don't know the size offhand, just ask the parts people to look it up for you.

p.s. Here is a tip;
1..clean out the deep recess the plug is in before you take the old one out. (Air pressure is good for this)
2..before you install the new plugs. rub just a little "anti-sieze" on the threads.
3..don't overtighten the plugs. I use 10 or 11 (inch) pounds of torque. (USA standard measurements)
4.. (edit) oops, I forgot, check the gap of each new plug.

Looking at your engine from the drivers seat of the car the plugs are numbered from right to left: 1,2,3,4.
Or, I could have said, looking from the timing belt cover to the coil packs. same, same.

Now look at the coil packs (2 of them right ?) two plug wires go from each pack to two spark-plugs.
Clean the top of the coil packs and you will see two small numbers on each pack. Thats the way you will know.

If your changing your plug wires, you can pull straight up on the wires and they will come off the plugs. Some may be stuck, but you don't care because your replacing your wires right? so pull and twist em off than discard em.
On the new wires ? A dab of "dielectric" grease inside each plug end wire and a little on the top of each plug is a good thing in lots of ways.
Do the same at the coil-pack end too.
By doing this now? you wont have stuck wires later on and it also keeps out moisture.

hope this helps ?

:)

p.s. when you get your old plugs out ? study them, they can tell you a lot about how your engine was running. Put them in order and you will know stuff about each cylinder.
Also, let me know what kind of plugs and part number they are than.. thanks.
