Question on Exhaust Manifold Port/Polish (1.6 engine)

Post by Woody_in_MN »

Of the options available right now, in addition to Short RAM/CAI, to me porting/polishing of the exhaust manifold makes the most sense as a next step.

Anyone know what kind of bump in HP/Torque can be had from a Exhaust Port/Polishing?

Yeah. That seems to be the consensus. Maybe a performance header makes more sense.

I was going to have something...but my guy bailed.

I'm still looking around and contacting companys. I'd be starting with the 2.0 though, then gathering intrest for the 1.6 guys

i might be wrong but if i remember, the 1.6 and the 2.0/2.0 are a lot alike you way be able to use the same tubing bends and everthing and just have to change the flange which i have.

There is talk about a D16 header over at the Aveo forum. People seem to think that would work with a little tweaking of the bends. Here is the thread:

Once a 2.0 one's made I'll check out whiteravens aveo and see the differences

I'd be up for a performance header - but as much bolt on as possible. If you know what I mean. I'll keep watching the forums for progress. I think there is a tremendous market for a performance header for our cars. Especially for the Aveo. I don't know the current numbers - but a year or so ago the Aveo was the top selling sub-compact in the US. But little after market for it - except CAI/Short RAM.

I'm sure there's intrest, but how many would come through? With all the crap thats been happening with me latly (like my house being robbed and cars stolen) I'd probably have to do a group buy for the 1.6 depending on how many other things I have going on at the time and what all is involved.
