Urgent!!! My Quaife LSD wont fit my F28
I was told by many many many people on here and else where that my Quaife lsd that I have in my D20 will fit my new F28 but the shop doing the work is telling me otherwise. They said one of the bearing on the Quaife lsd is wayyy to small to fit onto the F28. I looked on one of qualife websites and it listed them as the same part # but the shop found it on another one of Quaifes websites not using the same part #.

We'll see what happens. They may have found something that'll make it work...not sure as they found it while on the phone with me and told me they'd call me back after some more digging.gse_turbo wrote:if the bearing is the only problem then call Quaife to see if you can order the right bearing.
if it comes down to it, i would be willing to buy yours to help offset the cost of the right one.
sorry for the new!

I told them if they can't figure something out then to just order another quaife lsd. I just want my damn car at this point as I've barley had it this whole year!
Thanks!
oh and ps...I'm going outta town tomorrow so I'll reply to your PMs next week or on the road if I dont drive the whole way.

Hmmmm..... I was allways under the impression it was a direct fitment, perhaps the bearing issue is something everyone knows about but never mentions.... you should jump onto MIGWEB and ask around.... I'm sure that there are a dozen guys who could tell you what is needed to make it fit correctly.
Once you do find out.... please post what needed to be done so the rest of us will know if we need to drop a Quaife LSD into an F28.

Luckily, I happened to run onto an internet cafe and check new posts... Accordingly to Quaife website, the LSD you are using is direct fit: http://www.autotech.com/quaife/differen ... f_apps.htm (scroll down to GM)
F16/F18/F20/F28-2WD: Opel Astra/Kadett; Suzuki Forenza P/N 57.309.110
It is my understanding the LSD comes with no bearings, and they are to be used from the existing gearbox. Check your old diff and see if the bearings are still on the unit. Otherwise, you will need to have the D20 bearings removed, and the F28 diff bearings installed in place.

FINALLY! The F28 is working with all 6gears.
I haven't gotten to drive it yet, hopfully I will today---one of the brake lines busted so hopfully we can get a new one in time. My clutch supplyier sent me a clutch for the regular flywheel, instead of the lightwegith one, so I'm using a 6 puck clutch, 900lbs pressureplate, and internal slave (couldnt get external to work).

Your not talking about your new axles from the UK are you?????????
Sorry to hear that the willwood slave didn't work out.... was it an issue of leverage or total travel?
Hope things work out.... I have your 5 hole hubs pretty much done.... thankfully the carbide bit worked for the 13.75mm hole...
Who would have known that I would have to spend nearly $200 to drill four stupid holes... oh well.... I will know better next time
Now I just have to get the carbide inserts for the 9/16" Drill bit to finish off the last bit of the hole..... talked to a supplier today and it looks like they have them in stock... so hopefully tommorow or the next day I will have the last four holes drilled out with the carbide insert drill and they will be ready to go.

...yeah, they're done for and I only got 5 miles out of them. The shop just looked things over a bit and said that the new axles might be slightly shorter than the stock ones.PrecisionBoost wrote:Your not talking about your new axles from the UK are you?????????

Also matheus sent me the wrong clutch, one for the heavy flywheel---so I had to stick with that and the first problem was the clutch was catching and they had to grind it down a bit or something (gotta get the full details). I was gonna try my old pressureplate but it wasn't in good condition.
Good! some good news is better than none. Yeah that sucks all that worked out the way it did.

which parts of the axles broke????? was it just one side??
I'm pretty sure that the joints are the expensive part of the Group N driveshaft.... if they are still good you should be able to get someone to fabricate new ones for you.
The holes are finally finished but the studs I got from GM are the wrong diameter at the base !!!!!!!!
The old ones were 14mm and the new ones are more like 12mm.... so the new ones simply fall into the 14mm hole
I'd use the old 14mm studs but there are only 8 of them and I need 10 for your new 5 bolt pattern.
I swear I checked them when I picked them up..... I have to search around.... I'm thinking I might have bought 10 of the smaller studs and 10 of the larger studs.
If I don't have the larger studs I'm going to have to try and figure something out...... since I can't fill in the holes and redrill them smaller.
I wonder if the Suzuki rear studs are larger than the Optra rear studs for some reason...... very strange.... hopefully I will get to the bottom of all this.

Just one side broke, I dont know the terms for the parts there but I think it was the joint. Where all the balls sit, yea, those exploded.PrecisionBoost wrote:which parts of the axles broke????? was it just one side??
