Still have no power.. need the car to test your guys HEADERS
I've checked every single wire very carefully, I’ve checked everything that could be a vacuum leak, got new sparks plugs, I've ran about 10 tanks with fuel system cleaner, I’ve taken allot of the car apart and reinstalled it, new oil, new spark plugs, and probably some other stuff and the problem still existence. I haven't changed the fuel filters, but they aren't that old and I don’t think that’s the problem but if someone thinks there's a good chance that could be then I will. When I hold the gas all the way down the revs stop dead on 5,500 rpm every time and it drops it right back down to 4,500 quickly and slowly starts climbing back up somewhat slower than before and does it all over again. Also the exhaust smells horrible when I do that, and it doesn't smell rich or lean really...kinda smells deadly like poison or something.
I'm supposed to go to Cali in a couple days, but I wouldn't even be able to make it over the mountains Not to mention I have headers done and need to dyno them but my car doesnst drive

If me? I would change the fuel filter, just so I could say; " I know it's not the filter, just changed it"
Right now you can't say that.
Your on a dyno or road testing, right?
I ask because I know the lanos w/automatic (maybe the stick too?) will cut out around those rpm's if your testing it in 'Park' or 'Neutral' in your driveway.

i suspect the fuel pump and the ignition coils....is it the engine's control unit which u have??

I have no idea what your current setup is with regards to the Forenza..... your still using the SMT piggyback right?
Ignition was changed to run off the piggyback as well right?
Your not running a turbo... so your probably not having major fuel issues.
Do you have a wideband O2 in your car?? ( I'm thinking you don't but I thought I'd check )
How about your Catalytic converter?????
Is it the stock unit???
Perhaps running rich all the time you've managed to plug it up.
Without major detail on what has been done to the engine it makes it hard to diagnose the issues.

uhh I assume it was. Boshart motorsports did the install for the SMT6....I remember we tuned the AFR to get it to run lean with the injectors. Best we could get was 12.5 or 11.5 if I remember right....when I got home from 1,200miles from Cali I put in some leganza injectors and the car ran normally but didn't touch the piggy back to retune it. From running rich I did burn out the CAT and have had a code since, probably a bit over a year ago and up to 28k miles ago.
No i do not have one.
I only have the Main CAT now, as of 1k miles ago or so but I had this problem before removing the first CAT. When we pulled off the exhaust the CAT did look a bit plugged up.. I'm hoping that's it but don't think it is just because when I had the car 6months ago it ran fine then I got it back and instantly it ran like crap. Could maybe the gunk in there have hardened or something from not being ran for so long? I suppose the crack ignition coil i just replaced probably caused it to run rich too plugging it up even more, my gas milage shows it.
Okay so what if I were to take the exhaust off from the main CAT back and try to run it to see if it is the CAT, would my car go into LIMP mode for not using that last sensor just after the main CAT?

Hmm, I haven't idea...maybe someone else can answer that. oh something I dont think I made clear, the nasty poison smell from the exhaust only comes when I rev it to the point it cuts out. Also in this post I forgot to mention that right around 2,700 rpms is when I can feel the engine losing power, before that it might be completly normal.
Thanks for all the help guys! I'll see if I can replace the fuel filter today...hmm I wounder what my walbro pumps like.

Uhmm... my car doesn't have an inline fuel filter. Just the pump one. Would my walbro be the same setup? If so how would I change that filter...?

What size were your "large" injectors ??
Oh man..... you could be running really lean..... which could melt pistons, damage the head, damage rings.... among other things.
Do you have your old spark plugs??
If so take an up close high resolution picture for me and post it so I can look for signs of detonation.
You seriously need to invest in a wideband O2 sensor.... they are not that expensive ( Innovative motorsports makes a nice one for around $200 )
You still have that other engine right?
You may want to slap that one in with larger injectors and rebuild your current engine for the turbo project.
Lastly.... 12.5:1 isn't rich.... that's the ideal A/F for a turbo car.... even 11.5:1 isn't all that bad.
There are a number of vehciles that drop way down past 10:1 in stock form ( SRT-4, C20GET for example )
If you get me the injector sizing I can probably help you determine where you were running at with the Leganza injectors.

Yeah I know, I drove around on the street for awhile and smelt the exhaust and everything seamed fine. Even ran it on the track several times since.
Yeah I have them....I'll try to get a pic but my cameras broken so I gotta borrow someones.
I have the Innovative 02 sensor I've just been waiting to install it on my turbo exhaust.
I wish I did, the guy won't ship the engine anymore and has my money, I'm bringing it all to the police this week if I can. That's what I probably plan on doing, found an engine locally for $600 with only 1k miles on it.
Yeah,... they're the ones that told me to do it and shipped them too me.

I really don't wanna spend the money on a stand alone, with all the headers, trying to by a lanos, and I still haven't gotten the money from insurance for the stuff stolen from my house I'm pretty damn broke.

now that you say it does it without being in gear that might change things.
however, it still sounds like there is a too much load or some sort of drag or binding on the motor.
it kind of reminds me of an article i read where a guy tried making his own tranni adapter and it didn't line up perfect and put a ton of tension and drag on the motor.
do you still have the 5-speed?
