power steering relocation

Post by gse_turbo »

i'll be offering a bracket to relocate the power steering for 2.0/2.2 DOHC swaps into 'T-body' cars. (lemans, lanos, kadett, racer, nexia...)

just finishing up fitment, this will mount any PS pumpthat would have come on ant 2.0 OHC/ 2.0 DOHC/ 2.2 DOHC and maybe the 1.6's.
you would just need to match the PS pulley to the crank pulley.

this is so you can put a 2.0 on the lanos/lemans and keep the power steering and a/c?

yes and no. this is so ou can put a 2.0/2.2 DOHC in a lanos or lemans and keep the power steering.

no mods are needed to put a 2.0 SOHC in a lanos or lemans as they came this way in '89-'90.

at this point there is no set up for A/C and if you turbo your 2.0 DOHC in a lemans it looks like you will have to choose between A/C or PS, there's lust not enough room for all three.

on thing that is not pictured is the belt tensioner that will be Incorporated once everything is fitting perfect.

at this point i will be using the factory tensioner but if there is a lack of room i will have to use an old school adjustable mount.

You can put electrical power steering pump from astra-h/zaphira and others... It doesn't have pulley, and it wires on battery... It consumes less energy and power.

i'll look into that but the question is if they can be easily imported and if the cost and re-engineering is worth it.

one other concern i have is that i will be running a hydra-boost brake system that ties into the power steering system.
an electric pump may be able to hang with a one system but it might have trouble with two.

Don't think so. But I think that this isn't good idea to mass with your brakes... Something could go wrong and cost you a lot...

Brakes is something you don't touch if they work properly...

I have found one on junkyard for 100EU... :D

i truly appreciate your concern but we (my shop) convert all of our ralley trim cars to hydra-boost systems. it's less expensive then a willwood system and can quadruple your braking force.
