1. the C20GET uses the same service number for both the DIS and dizzy version so i'm quite sure that the one computer will handle both. on the DIS version they of course use a crank sensor and reluctor mounted (internally) to the front of the crank. it's likely that you will have the same provision you will just need to pull the crank to mount the reluctor and push out the freeze plug. i'm not sure but i think the later DIS redtops used the same but if not then you can use the sensor and reluctor from and eco motor.Hi chap,
I have a C20LET over here but am running it in RWD form in a Vauxhall Carlton. Trouble is that the dizzy fouls the rear bulkhead, so I made a system that reversed the dizzy the drives it off the exhaust camshaft.
The system works but is far far from perfect and I think that over time it will fail, this isn't good. The only other option is DIS, but the C20LET cannot drive the DISpack.
Can you answer these questions please, if they are right I will want to buy the ECU and loom off you:
1. Are you 100% sure this C20GET ecu will drive a DIS pack??, it's not like a different version of the ECU?? (for example there are about 5/6 different variations of the C20LET ecu, some are minor updates, others have immobilisers built in ect...) What I am saying is that your ECU is off an early Dizzy model, did they not change the internals of the ECU slightly to support DIS??
2. Loom - All Vauxhalls over here have a seperate ECU loom that only interacts with the car's loom for power and instrumentation readouts, this is the same as this C20GET loom??
3. Loom - Can you give me a rough idea of how many sensors the C20GET has on the loom? The C20LET has: Lamda, Knock, crank, hall sensor (on dizzy), boost control (amel valve), boost sense (built into ECU itself), Air Mass meter, coolant, throttle position, idle control etc.....
4. Loom - The C20LET is the turbocharged variant of the C20XE, two main types existed, the dizzy and DIS variant. The DIS variant's loom had different plugs to power the DIS pack, is this C20GET loom incompatible with DIS??? will I require a DIS loom??
5. and finally how much to send both ECU and loom to the UK??
Thank you for your time,
John.
2,3,4. in the states the loom to the dash, motor, lights are typically one large piece, in your case i think it would be much easier to simply send you the ECU and the plug-in with wire diagrams and 'pin-outs' so that you can adapt your existing loom. i will post this on my 'home forum' daewootech.com and see if anyone can point me in the direction of an online shop manual so that you can know for sure if the GET ECU will have everything you will need. i think it will do great.
5. i'll have to work up some specs and contact the post office before i can give an accurate price but i should be able to do that today no problem.
i'll PM you with the link to daewootech when i get the topic up so you can watch it if you'd like
