Are any special tools required?
If anyone wants to do a how-to it's welcomed but It seams pretty straight forward.

From what I've learned, all you do is take off the wheel, take off the hub bolt [it's pretty big, usually around 30-32mm]. Take the bottom ball joint bolt off the wishbone, and take the wish bone away from the strut. Then get a hammer/block of wood, and beat the hit the shaft, which is still attached to the hub, to loosen it a bit, then, pull the strut toward you a bit and pull the shaft out of the back of the strut. Once you've got the shaft out of the strut, just yank on it until it comes out, you'll need to tug on it pretty hard though.|
I've no pictures of it but, pictures would make it a lot easier to explain

I've gone through this process enough times replacing trannies. Its pretty straightforward, Pir0 summarizes it well.
