causes of premature wheel lockup under braking

Post by MMamdouh »

i have premature wheel lockup at my front left wheel... almost always at hard braking i get the left locked before the right wheel

i have just upgraded my brales from 1.5 lanos spec to 1.6 and the problem was apparent after the upgrade

car has 69800 kms on it
running on stock master cylinder
got brand new rotors and pads (problem was present even with the old upgrade set of rotors and pads)
car pulls a bit to the right so it propably needs alighnment (can this cause premature lockup)

most major issue between left and right is the brake line... i got 19mm calipers on both sides but for some reason one uses OEM brake line (the one with square end) and the other uses a brake line with circular end and the only brake line with circular end i could find is the one from the nubira and that is some 4~5 cm longer so i don't have even lenght brake lines on the front but the longer line (nubira line ) is at the left were i have the lockup problem

what can be causing this problem??

Yeah it can, as one wheel maye not have as much grip on the road as the other. Also, another factor stemming from this is uneven tyre wear, causing one wheel to go though the rubbed quicker than the other/quicker in a certain plan than the other, also, which could lead to one wheel locking and the other not.

Don't think the longer brake line has anything to do with it, unless it wasnt bled right when installed. The fluids pumped right to the calipers, so all it does when you push the pedal is push a piston which forces more fluid down, which in turn forces another piston[s] [the brakes] onto the pads, which then squeeze the disk/rotor.

Hope you get it sortted soon, i hate playing with brakes...

thanks for the advice man... i hate messing up with brakes too but i had to do the upgrade as the OEM brake spec. of the 1.5 lanos sucks big time.

i was planning on getting her alighned but i just realized on saturday that i lost all my A/C gas... probably i damaged my serpantine during the accedent i had early january so i am more focused on that now... my tires got some 58k kms on them so they might be a factor here too
