master cylinder and slave sylinder

Post by gse_turbo »

does any one know for sure if the Forenza/Reno master and slave cylinder is interchangeable with the Nubi?

...I can call the dealers here but I figured I run it by you guys first.

I had the part number ran and they are not even close. that doesn't mean the parts aren't interchangeable just different numbers (same can be said for the head's in the forenza and nubi).

...the good news is that the new master from the dealer is only $60 and the new slave is only $130 (retail). 8)

i remember when exist3nce had clutch problems and posted pics... his slave master setup seemed to me way different than the one on a nubira... not sure about the master cyl.

yep that's the pic i was talking about

on the optra the piston is inside the clutch bell and it is right behind the bearing... theoretically speaking... the master piston should be the same but that is in theory only... it would be great if you post a couple of pics for your master cylinder to make sure if they are common on the optra and the nubira

idea: can the more modern setup of the optra's slave piston be done on a nubira? and in other words can you revert back to the old setup on an optra?? i can see the location were the big shaft that transfers the piston's movement to the bearing is their so it can be put on an optra... only missing part is the bearing fitment and the slave cylinder is fit on the bolts holding the tranny to the engine... just wondering...

once I get the car in I'll have to post some pics. it turns out that it's the slave that is out so your question should be answered. which system do you think is better, a fully hydraulic system (Optra) or hydraulic slave with mechanical lever? ...or how about a fully mechanical system like the F16?

i recon the nubira one

full mechanical is said to be heavier in operation and i personally had cable issues with other older cars

optra setup will require tranny removal in case you had slave cylinder issues and slave cylinder leak can cause clutch contamination and thus more expensive repair
