Shelf life of a timing belt

Post by 20aveowoo07 »

I was wondering what the shelf life of a timing belt is? I ordered my parts for my first timing job, which I plan to do this year when my car reaches 50k, and due to me putting 40K on the car per year, I went ahead and ordered two. Is there a particular time that belt last before needing tossed? Thanks

Not really aslong as it's not being heated up and cooled down a whoooooole lot. I mean, like, the belt flys your engine at 1000-7000rpm , and gets quite hot, then cools down when you switch it off, and they can last years on an engine, depending on the miles, so if it's sitting in a room or on a shelf in a cupboard somewhere at a steady-ish temp it should be fine.
