Replacing injectors

Post by ubuyau »

Does anyone have a guide on how to replace the standard injectors on the 1.5L 8v Lanos with the 2L Nubira injectors? Ive had a bit of a look but couldnt find anything. Im looking to do this very soon as the "other project" necessitating this change should be finished shortly . So if anyone has any ideas it would be really helpful rather than just flying blind.

Thanks.

it was mentioned in other posts that both injectors are a direct swap so i recon you just have to take off the fuel rail, remove small injectors and put on the big ones.

i am not really sure of that but i can't see any other way to do it... almost as easy as a spark plug replacment job.

NOTE: with no after market fuel pressure regulator you will run very rich.

Ive got a RRFPR but that is in series with the stock one so i can only run higher pressure than stock :|

Even now tho i have the fuel pressure bumped up to 40psi at warm idle (it got measurable benefits from bumping it up after exhaust, K&N filter and CAI) from the stock 34psi. So i figure if i push it back to 34 psi and put in the bigger injectors it should sort of equal out some...

Spark plugs and everyday maintenance i can do fine :D Im just lacking experience when changing that sort of thing

Will running rich be that much of a problem at idle? I mean come 2-3000rpm, turbo will kick in and it'll munch all the fuel i can give it. So its only going to be rich for a little while.

Do we have any cc numbers for our injectors? Are the 2L injectors THAT much bigger...?

How exactly are you tuning it? by ear? I hope not. The absolute best way to tell is by using a wideband O2 sensor and display. It will show you exactly what's going on.

Hehehehe nah hopefully i can grab some dyno time on the day i finish it. Ive got an air fuel meter that should get it in decent enough tune to get it to the dyno.

Hehehehe by ear LOL  im not THAT backyard :P but it would be interesting to see how long the engine lasts like that

hi you can use vauxhall 20 16v injectors they will be enough for a 15l engine or else you can use your standard injectors and fit a fifth injector with a map sensor! i will be fitting a turbo in my cielo soon (vauhall 20 16v engine ) with fifth injector they work fine!
